They say the memories are golden,
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted just memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
no other could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway,
and heartache make a lane.
I'd walk the path to heaven,
and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as god calls us,
one by one.
Our chain will link again.
If It Should Be...
If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Betsy
Our sweet, little Grandma crossed over to the rainbow bridge on Saturday, October 31st. In the short time that we were able to have her with us, she brought so much joy to her foster family. She was a breeding dog kept in a kennel her entire life so when she was given the chance to be with people, she thrived in her foster home. She would even go around and try to get the other dogs to nurse on her. She was a mama and this was all she knew in her short 8 years of life. You could find her everyday laying on the chest of her foster dad for hours of unconditional love. She would make sure her face was right next to his and her tail was always wiggling. She had the most soulful eyes and would look at you with all of her wisdom and pain. She knew she was in a better place and appreciated even the smallest gesture of love. She brought joy to all of us and she will always be remembered for her sweet, sweet face and her precious disposition. We will always remember you Grandma Betsy....
