Available Bulldogs:

Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrendered to rescue every year. This is the price of popularity. (The Bulldog is among the 24 most popular breeds). Buyers are intrigued by the Bulldog's many charms, only later to discover the special care that may come with their wrinkles, "pushed in" faces, unusual structure, and, in some cases, genetic faults from irresponsible breeding.

The Bulldogs that come through the rescue program are seldom in "perfect" condition in terms of health, temperament or both. Frequently, it is health and/or behavior problems that cause the owners to be willing to give up the dog. The average age of rescue Bulldogs is about four or five, and few Bulldogs are ever surrendered to rescue under the age of three.

Chopper
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Chopper

Chopper

Hello everyone, my name is Chopper and things have sure been tough for me over the last several months... until recently, when the nice people at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue rescued me. Up until then, I had been on the streets - cold and hungry. Food was hard to find and I was very, very skinny.

But not anymore, I think things are finally turning around for me. I'm in a foster home now with a nice foster mom and dad who give me the attention and love (and food) I had been searching for all that time. I have a foster brother who couldn't be a better buddy to me. We both mind our own business for the most part, but we love to go on walks together, we like to go in the backyard and while he barks at the neighbor dogs, I run around after him to let him know: "I'm here if you need me buddy." I get to eat regularly and my foster mom says I am finally looking more like the handsome boy that I am; (I was REALLY skinny when I first came in to rescue). I am house-trained, obedient, submissive, a little bit stubborn (but I am a bulldog), and absolutely love being at home with a roof over my head, a dry floor to lie on, and someone I can love.

I'm gaining weight and getting my strength back now and as soon as I'm ready, will have treatment for my heartworms, which I'm not really looking forward to, but I know will make me feel so much better. And when that's done, all that's left in this fairytale that my life has become, is to find my fur-ever home and share all the love and happiness I have inside of me.

I am up to date on my vaccinations, neutered and on heartworm preventative.  My adoption fee is $500.

Clover
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Clover

Clover

Clover came to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue from a local animal control.  She is hesitant of befriending other dogs but she and her foster sister were acclimated slowly and they are doing well together. She loves belly rubs and booty scratches and she paws your leg to get attention. She just rolls over and bears the belly when you get down to pet her and she loves to be held close and cuddled when she has built her trust with you. She doesn't jump on furniture and would prefer to sleep outside her crate. She loves to go on walks but most of all she just wants to be close to you and get affection every chance she can. She doesn't chew on anything...not even bones, but she does like treats. Clover is gaining a little bit of weight since she is able to get regular meals. Her coat is getting shinier and softer by the week.  Clover developed kennel cough soon after we took her from the shelter but is responding well to treatment. She has an infected tail and some very minor skin conditions that we are treating as well. For the most part she is in pretty good shape. We suspect she was a puppy factory, left out in the cold when she was no longer able to produce. She has signs being left in a kennel for extended amounts of time and her breasts and tummy show the signs of a few litters. She is leaving her paw prints on everyone’s heart each day she is with us.  Clover will be up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and on heartworm preventative.  Her adoption fee is $500.

Bubba
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Bubba

Bubba

Hey everyone I’m Bubba!  I was rescued from a shelter because my owner had no more use for me.  I had lived out my usefulness so they had animal control come by and pick me up.  I have lived most of my life outside but I sure do like living in the house now!  I am completely housetrained….guess it was all those years of going in the yard that instilled in me that I should take care of my “business” outside.  I am an older fellow about 7 or 8 years old and of course with age comes arthritis and other minor problems like dry eye. I will need to have my eye medication for the rest of my life but really it’s not a problem. I am on some meds now that are really helping me get around better.  I also have heartworms….another condition from living outside and not being cared for.  After I am stronger they will treat me for heartworms and I will be looking for my new retirement home.  I would love to just lay by your feet all day and keep you company.  I am quiet and not any trouble at all.  I just need someone to love me.  Now I know there are some much younger bullies looking for homes and I will probably get passed over but if you will just take a minute to really consider me I promise to be your faithful companion!  I will be up to date on my vaccinations, neutered and on heartworm preventative once I am free of those pesky critters.  My adoption fee is only $300, won’t you consider me?

Roscoe

Hey all you bulldog lovin' friends, it's me Roscoe, and I trying to find you! My Birthday is on the 19th of March, and I will be 6. I am refusing to celebrate without a family so I need to find my new family very quickly!  Let me tell you a few things about me!  I have lived with the same family all my life, and I am missing my family very much!  I am a tiny bulldog, only 35 lbs, I walk with a limp from an injury that was never fixed and my hips are not the best. I will need to be on joint supplements for the rest of my life but I’m not in any pain right now.  The nice folks at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue have been working to clear up my skin and ear infections.  I’m much better now and I’m sure I will be ready to roll soon.  I am up to date on my vaccinations, neutered and on heartworm preventative; my adoption fee is $400.  My ideal family would be older and would have the occasional aches and pains that I have. I am slow to get up and get around, but I get their, it just takes a while longer. My heart is GOLD; if I meet you I will love you. I am not angry with the family that gave me away, I am just lonely. I hope you will see in my face that I need a family and it's hard being alone in the at my age!  My traveling bags are packed and my bed is washed and waiting, you won't be sorry you choose me; I am the kindest fellow you will ever meet.

Bonnie Belle
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Bonnie Belle

Bonnie Belle

Hi all, My name is Bonnie Bell, my foster Mom added the "Belle" because I am
such a little lady.  I came to the rescue after being hit by a car, lucky
for me I ducked and walked away without any injuries.  I had been without a
home for sometime.

Thankfully , I am now in a warm home surrounded by lots of Love.  I have two
foster siblings ( They are Bulldogs too) and we get along great...I also
have a 6 year old human brother and I really like him too.  He knows to be
very gentle with me.

Like I said before, I am a little lady.  I am small, quite and a little shy.
My kennel is my safe place and that is where I go to sleep.  I have learned
the routine in the house very quickly. I love going on short walks and do
great on a leash.  I will also tell you that I enjoy a little sunbathing in
the backyard, not too long, but a little since it isn't too hot yet.

My Foster family says that I am a VERY special little girl and deserve the
MOST loving family willing to spoil and give me all the attention I deserve.
Since I am a little shy I would prefer a family with no small, loud
children.

I have been spayed and had surgery to correct my cherry eyes.  Up to date on
Shots, on heartworm medication and I am about 2 years old.

From Foster Mom:  Bonnie Belle is probably the sweetest bulldog I have ever
encountered.  She is so sweet and gentle. You can tell she has had little to
no attention in her lifetime.  She almost didn't know how to receive love at
first.  She is so quiet that you almost don't even realize she is in the
room.  You can tell she so appreciates and craves love and warm home she has
now.   We have all fallen head over heels in  love with her.  I know her new

George
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - George

George

The best word to describe George is “BIG”.  He’s physically BIG, weighing in at 75 lbs., but if you ask his foster parents about his size they will tell you at least 70 lbs. of that is his BIG heart!  This BIG 4 yr old baby has a beautiful Bulldog head and is primarily a handsome dark brindle, except from his mid to lower back area where his hair does not grow everywhere.  However, it is hard to tell that he has little to no hair because his skin is so dark.  George’s hair loss is due to his rough start as a puppy when he was found as a puppy with a broken back leg and covered with fleas.  The flea infestation caused George’s tail to become infected to the point that the veterinarian who first saw him decided the kindest thing he could do for George was to remove his tail.  George’s broken right leg healed back but with a curve and this can sometimes cause George enough discomfort that he needs to take pain medicine.  But there is no need for concern regarding George’s getting around.  There is nothing George likes better than to run and rough house.  Again, George is BIG on playing; with tug of war being one of his favorites.  George needs to be walked using a harness; as he can, ever once in a while, exhibit a bulldog’s stubborn attitude when he doesn’t want to go the same way as HIS person on the end of the lead.  In those times that 75 lbs. turns into 175 lbs. of dead weight.  However, a quick tug and a “George, come!” will usually get him back on the trail.  George is a BIG lover boy and enjoys being held and cuddled.  If allowed on furniture, George likes nothing more than to climb up on the couch with his human and rest his BIG head on his best friend and stare with his BIG brown eyes.  George is crate trained and can stay in his crate for long lengths of time, although he would much prefer being out with his human family.  He has a favorite baby and blanket that he snuggles with until he drifts off to “Snore land”.  George is very submissive and gets along great with other dogs.  When he does something wrong a firm “no” while cupping his face in your hand will almost break his heart as he so wants to please you.  George could be either a one dog family member or join a family with another dog family member.  With one to one and a half cups of food a day, the one thing George is not BIG in is the amount of food he eats.  He is great with children but because of his BIG physique, and his not recognizing his own size, he probably would be better off in a home with children who are at an age where they will not be easily knocked down.  The FOREVER family George picks to go home with can count themselves lucky to be the BIG winner of George’s love.  George is of course neutered, up to date on his shots and on a heartworm preventative.  His adoption fee is $400.

Stella
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Stella

Stella

Stella is quite a bulldog! She is a fit 75lbs, and is in great heath. She sleeps for a good part of the day, and likes to play with you and her bone in the evenings. She does best with a consistent routine every day. She is a great leash walker and takes a morning walk before breakfast, and an evening walk before her dinner. She can go 3-4 blocks at a time, but watch her breathing as it gets hotter in the summer; and walk at the coolest parts of the day.   Stella especially loves car rides and will meet you at the door when she hears the keys jingling.

Stella can be somewhat aggressive to strangers if they are not confident with her. But when she is comfortable with her people she is very loveable and just wants to sleep or play. She knows sit and down commands and can be very patient for a treat or bone toss. She must be an only animal, and should not be in a home with small children, toddlers or babies.

Consistent routine in Stella’s meal is important! She hustles to her kennel when she hears her bowl rattle with food. She loves her kennel and knows it as a safe place for naps and meals. Royal Canan Bulldog Formula is her regular meal; 1 cup for breakfast and 2 cups for dinner. People foods produce unpleasant reactions in her.

Stella is 3 years old and up to date on her vaccinations, on heartworm preventative and spayed.  Her adoption fee is $400.

Cooper
Lone Star Bulldog Rescue - Cooper

Cooper

Because of your generous donations Cooper had his surgery to repair his prolapsed rectum, fixed his double cherry eye and was neutered.  That is all we can do for now as he has to heal.  After he has had time to recover he will be treated for heartworm and then be ready for adoption.  Read his heartwarming update below.

Update for Cooper from his foster mom:

I won’t lie…the first few days were rough. I think I did 4 loads of laundry the first day as Cooper was totally incontinent. He probably has never lived inside of a house so he didn’t understand that we potty outside and not in our bed or on the floor. Plus he really could not help it. He has to remain kenneled more often than not so his body will rest and his colon heal. We cannot take the chance on it ripping or tearing.  Cooper has to be on soft canned dog food only to keep his stools loose so they do not strain his colon. He has 2 antibiotics and a pain pill that he takes every 12 hours. He is completely motivated by food as I am sure he never consistently had a meal in his life.

For the first week he remained incontinent and I changed bedding at least 4 to 5 times a day. When we went back for a recheck  Dr. Whitworth said everything looked great that plus he had put on 3lbs! Yay!

As of this week Cooper has control over his bowels and is no longer bleeding! We are now learning to potty outside because while we have not had a poopy accident we did pee in our kennel last night right after Mom let me back in from going potty outside. Mom was not pleased!

I think Cooper is continuing to put on weight and he looks better each day. He really is the sweetest little boy. Dr. Whitworth thinks he is probably only a little over a year old. He has been great with my dogs Brutus and Lucy who you know want to play but I think they know he is / has been sick because they are not overly hyper with him. He likes to go outside with them and I think that is helping with the potty training, learning from them. He will be so happy when he finally gets to eat a bowl of their food because he makes a run for them every chance he gets including climbing my step stool to check the counters. Cooper is also having to learn that we are not trash diggers anymore too. He likes to make a run for the trash can as well.
